Based on your website’s needs there are several different hosting options available. However, you may want to take a look at a dedicated hosting plan as such a plan is suitable for all types of online businesses.

A dedicated hosting plan provides each customer with his or her own dedicated server i.e. all the resources on the server are available for use by a single customer. This kind of arrangement is known to offer high performance levels and more reliability than other hosting plans. This is the reason why dedicated hosting is popular among larger businesses establishments.

Some of the main features of a dedicated hosting plan are listed here.

Multiple Domain Hosting

An advantage of using a dedicated hosting plan is that unlike a simple shared hosting plan, you can easily place multiple domains and websites on the same server. This would enable you to use the resources of a single sever to accommodate several different websites and thus save yourself from the cost of purchasing hosting for each website that you want to host. Another benefit is that since all your websites would be hosted at a single server, management of those websites would become easier. Also you would not be required to learn new administrative features every time you host a new site.

Service

Since all resources of the server would be allocated to you only, there would be no memory restrictions or storage restrictions for your website. Also you would experience enhanced customer service with your dedicated hosting account. Most of the web hosts also provide dedicated helpline numbers to those who are using dedicated hosting, something that might come in handy in case of a server problem. This kind of enhanced customer service is what makes dedicated hosting a good choice for small and large businesses.

Security

Security is a very important aspect when it comes to hosting plans. Dedicated hosting provides for a dedicated IP address for each of the websites hosted on it, whereas in case of a shared hosting plan many websites share the same IP address, which means that the websites which share an IP address with your website can affect the status of your website. For example, if a site sharing an IP address is banned or found guilty of some suspicious activity, then every website on that IP would also get flagged down. This may affect the credibility of your online business.

Reseller Hosting

If you have leased a dedicated server, you have the right to share the resources of the server according to your will. This means that you can sell server resources to other people, thus enabling you to make a profit from your dedicated hosting service. This method is a great way to generate some extra income and pay for server costs for individuals who do not need all the server space allocated to them. An important point regarding reselling hosting is that you can decide what plans and resources you want to sell to your customers and at what prices. Therefore you have the ability to create custom hosting plans to attract more and more customers.

These are some of the advantages of using a dedicated hosting and if you are running a small or a large online business then dedicated hosting may be the best option for you.

Everyone is looking to make some money online, including companies and individuals. There are millions of dollars being spent on a weekly basis on the e-commerce market, and getting in on the lucrative market is something everyone wants. In order to have your own online business or e-commerce store, you need to have hosting for your website. Creating a website is not a tough task, as you can hire someone to build you the website. Choosing a web hosting company to host your website is a tough choice, as there are thousands of companies to choose from. In this article we will be looking at the two lower cost hosting solutions available; shared web hosting and virtual private server hosting.

Shared hosting is very cost-efficient way to host your websites, since it comes with a very low price tag. However, shared hosting has several security issues and it is not sufficient for all websites. If you feel your website will be receiving large amounts of traffic, the best solution would be to host your website on a virtual private server. The cost of shared hosting is cheap because you are initially sharing everything with hundreds of other users. You are sharing space and bandwidth with the other clients on the server. If your website is very resource intensive, it will cause the other sites on the server to slow down. Similarly, if you feel your website is beginning to run slow, you know exactly what is going on. In terms of cost and performance, shared hosting is not a bad a solution.

Cost shouldn’t be your only concern when it comes to hosting. You should take the reliability and security into account. Since many people have access to the same server, there is a definite security concern. Shared hosting servers are very vulnerable to data-breaches, attacks and downtimes. If one of the sites on the server gets attacked, it could affect all the other websites on the server, unlike VPS hosting. VPS hosting is similar to a shared environment, but it is concerned to be private and secure.

VPS hosting is very similar to a dedicated server, because you essentially have your own server. VPS hosting is formed by offering clients to use one dedicated server that is split into partitions. With VPS hosting, you are the only one on your partition, and your websites will not affect that of the others. Unlike shared hosting, VPS hosting will cost you a bit more, but it is worth it if you take the reliability and security into account. VPS hosting is great because it can handle more resource intensive sites, since it does not share the memory with the other users on the dedicated server. You can get a custom virtual private server built according to your specifications. In any case, it is always best to begin with a VPS hosting plan and then move onto a dedicated server, as you could save some money in the beginning stages of your online venture.

If you have thought of having your own server, without the exceptionally high costs, the best solution is to get a VPS, short for virtual private server. A VPS would be right for you if you have some experience managing VPS, or dedicated servers. If you currently have a shared hosting account, and are thinking of upgrading, you can definitely consider a VPS. Going for a virtual private server will be a bit more in cost, but it will provide you with a lot more benefits than your shared hosting service.

If you run a dozen websites or so, which do not take up much resource; a VPS would be able to host your sites. A virtual private server will be great for site owners who have a strict spending limit, but have websites that take up large amounts of space, bandwidth and power. A shopping website with tons of visitors, who are constantly purchasing items, can be perfect for a VPS. A dedicated server will cost much more money and it requires more work to maintain, as opposed to a VPS. Each account that is created on a single virtual private server will be considered as one single account.

Just like dedicated servers are based on the Windows and UNIX operating system, a VPS is commonly put on an operating system known as Virtuozzo. Virtuozzo is a very strong operating system, which will be able to handle all requests in the system. If you notice that you are always reaching the resource limits on your current shared plan, or if you want more access to install your own software, you should consider a VPS. The VPS can be fixed with a control panel, which allows you to access the main panel for your websites. The most common control panel used in the web hosting business is cPanel. cPanel can be easily installed on any VPS. The control panel will allow you to access all the basic features in hosting such as databases, emails, add-on domain and statistics.

The pricing of virtual private servers vary greatly depending on the server specifications. The more space, bandwidth and RAM it has, the higher it will cost. You can even get your VPS built according to your specifications, which is something many people prefer to do. Upgrading bandwidth is very simple, as the supplier will just have to adjust that in your plan. Another great thing about having a VPS is that, you have full control over all your information. You are the only person who will be accessing the server, as opposed to shared hosting, where hundreds of users accessed one single server.

There are several kinds of web hosting services like shared web hosting, free web services, dedicated hosting, virtual dedicated servers, home servers, clustered hosting, and cloud hosting. Each one of these hosting services boast varying advantages and features. At least one of these web hosting types will seem ideal for a website, according to the site’s particular needs.

Shared Hosting

Out of all of the hosting services listed above, one of the most common kinds is known as shared website hosting. This type of hosting is fairly inexpensive and usually recommended for websites that do not have many special requirements. Usually, shared hosting is used by small sites due to its affordability; however, this hosting service is most often not the right fit for larger sites with certain needs because in most cases, hundreds of various websites must share a single server. This means each domain name is forced to use the same server resources.

Dedicated Hosting

For larger websites with multiple web pages, dedicated managed hosting is a better choice. With dedicated hosting, each site is given their own server as well as total control over said server. The only downside to dedicated hosting is the cost. The website’s owner will pay considerably more money with a dedicated server than a site owner who uses shared hosting.

VPS Hosting

VPS, or Virtual Private Server hosting is considered to be the middle ground between shared hosting and dedicated hosting, with a cost that is less than the dedicated web hosting alternative. The term “VPS” simply describes the virtual machine meant for a customer’s exclusive use and with that exclusivity, there are certain advantages.

One of the primary benefits of VPS web hosting is that this type of hosting allows the user to create sandboxes; this only occurs when a single physical server contains two different virtual private servers. With a sandbox, the user gains access to another website without directly affecting said site. For businesses that require more accessible, stronger hosting services, this is a huge advantage.

In addition, VPS web hosting is well-known for its lightening-fast speeds in terms of private server access. And since the servers do not have to physically share, all data and information is completely safe. Because of the “isolation” factor, the user has increased control over the server.

It comes as no surprise that the many advantages provided by VPS hosting make it the top server choice for more and more businesses and large websites.

There is an important piece of information that as a blogger, you need to know above anything else. You need to know more about VPS, Virtual Private Server, and how it works. The facts are that with VPS hosting, the web host company will split their serving, allowing each of their clients to use a portion of the company’s private server without having to share.

Benefits

The benefit of this is that you have total control in regards to your section of the server. You will find that it is easy to host your blog through this type of server. Also, you will have the ability to host any other websites you own as well as reboot your operating system.

When further examining the above benefits, it is all too easy to realize that VPS hosting is the ideal choice for blog owners. And no matter what, VPS is the superior option as opposed to shared hosting, especially since you are a part-owner of a private server.

Downsides

Because of the many benefits of VPS, this type of hosting comes at a higher cost. Also, the price you must pay will be directly determined by the individual provider as well as how much RAM you use. If do choose to go the VPS hosting route, be aware that although you will pay more, you will enjoy benefits that are well-worth the cost. Generally, a user using 256-384MB of RAM should expect to be charged $20-$30.

Jumping From the Shared-Hosting Ship

One other reason to host a blog via VPS hosting is if you are currently a customer of a shared hosting company and you are finally getting a large amount of visitors. In this case, it makes perfect sense to make the switch to VPS hosting. As a matter of fact, if your main goal is to make money by blogging, shared hosting is not the right choice at all.

You really must find a different server option that better suits your needs even if you save more money as a shared-hosting customer. Eventually, when your blog site reaches an all-time level, there is no choice but to switch over to a VPS host company. So if you want to increase your revenue and traffic, do not hesitate to find a new home with VPS.

Benefits From Changing Hosting Providers

After you make the change over to VPS hosting, it will not take too much more time before you have over one thousand visitors per day. When this happens, your blog will be exposed to a wider audience than the traffic you had when using a shared host company.

When you do finally move to VPS hosting, it will be a great time to figure out how you can glean the most money from blogging. There is a excellent chance that if you take the right steps, one being VPS, you will certainly not regret the choice you made as you can quickly earn enough money to more than cover the extra monthly cost.

Since almost every web host offers the option of purchasing reseller accounts, the Internet has experienced a significant increase in 3rd party hosting as a way of obtaining an additional steady income. With a market overloaded with competition, you will probably wonder “Should I enter into the business of reselling accounts?
Points you should consider before deciding

Before taking the plunge and signing up for a reseller account, you may need to think about these key points:

Will I have the necessary time to market my services? – Keep in mind that in order to stand out among the many webhosts available in the market, you will require marketing your services. Be ready to spend as much time as possible every day marketing your new web hosting company or learning different techniques for marketing your services.

Am I prepared to provide support to my clients? – To effectively support your clients whenever they have questions about web hosting or in case something is not working properly, you should either have experience with web hosting or the company offering reseller services must provide this support.

Am I in this for the long haul? – As you advertise your services and become more visible to the Internet community you will definitely start to land customers. Make sure you are committed to providing these services for an indefinite period because your customers have put their trust in you and are counting on you to be around.

Is it worth it? – Selling hosting services can be a highly rewarding business that you can run from the comfort of your home. Please be patient and market your services every day. So before long, you will have several clients and may consider upgrading to a dedicated server account.

By now you probably have a little background information on what a virtual private server is and what to look for in one. If you’ve decided that virtual private hosting is the right choice for your new website (or even your existing one), your next step is going to be to shop around for the best deals for the specific features that you require. Below we’ll look at the top 3 hosts supporting VPS, and compare some of their features.

First up is IX Web Hosting. What we liked best about them was, first of all, the price at only $39/mo (not to mention you can save yourself 25% if paid 2 years ahead of time) and the fact that bandwidth would not be an issue for most people. 500 Gigabytes of monthly transfer is capable of serving even some of the most largest communities on the internet. If the average web page is 100kb, then you’ll be able to upload 5 million pages per month. It’s hard to imagine a single webmaster having that much of a traffic load.

Other than it’s larger-than-necessary bandwidth allowance, IX Web Hosting’s basic VPS plan comes with 384MB of RAM, a 10 gigabyte storage capacity, the ability to use 2 IPs, and complete full root access. There servers are located around the Kentucky area, so all your US-based traffic will be able to access your website(s) at lightning-fast speeds. Their customer support team can be reached ‘round the clock at 1-800-385-0450

A2 Hosting. These guys are unique in the fact that they can offer VPS hosting for only $10.46, but the catch is that most webmasters will be willing to spend a few extra dollars to upgrade their resources. Still, their base plan is comparable to the above IX Web Hosting VPS plan. You still get 10Gs of storage, and 24×7 access to customer support. Their servers are still located in the United States (Detroit area), and this plan even comes with a free control panel (KLOXO), something that IX Web Hosting doesn’t supply with their value setup.

The trade-off here is they give you 1/3 less RAM, and the amount of monthly bandwidth is only 100 gigabytes. Still, it’s a heck of a value for only $10.46/mo. If you need to tweak the resources a little in order to do what you need to, the plan is very flexible willing you’ll be able to pay a few extra dollars a month. Check out their site. We consider these guys to be the best value for someone just getting started in dabble in VPS hosting.

The last guys we’re going to look at is Inmotion Hosting. If you’re looking for something a little more powerful and feature rich, and don’t mind paying $40/mo, then these guys are for you. Though they only supply you with 256MB of RAM, that really seems to be their only weakness. This is the only company we’ve seen that mentions anything about SSH, which is nice, and upon signup you get a full license to cPanel.

Each party signed up for their base plan will be able to use 2 different IPs (which aren’t shared among anyone else), and a free domain name to get you started. They give you the largest data allowances of the bunch as well, offering 40Gs with their base plan. And you don’t have to be afraid of trusting 40 gigabytes worth of data with a 3rd party’s computer either, because its stored on a RAID 10 system. That means that every time you upload a file, it is copied 10 times to 10 different hard drives on the server. Hard to imaging any data loss due to hardware issues there.

And so when looking at all three plans, each of them has their strong suit. If you’re just starting to dabble in VPS and don’t know yet whether its something you need or not, you can play it safe and sign up for A2’s budget plan at only $10.46/mo. If you’re planning on running a lot of large server-side scripts, then we recommend IX Web hosting due to their large RAM allowance. But if you’ve got a site with some big storage and transfer requirements, like a downloads or video-sharing site, then Inmotion Hosting will supply you with the resources you need.

Have you ever wished that you could just host your own web sites rather then relying on the software a 3rd party host uses? Want to be in more control of the features your hosting can handle, install new and different scripting languages, host multiple websites under one system, and not be limited by the hosting company’s cPanel anymore? Then perhaps a Virtual Private Server system is right for you.

A VPS is meant so that people can be in more control of their hosting, without having to pay to rent out an entire machine. If you’ve ever used an emulator before, a VPS works the same way. A computer emulates hardware using some type of software, and one powerful computer can then become many slightly slower ones. Using a remote desktop connection, customers can connect to these emulated computers and modify whatever they want about them as if the machine was their own, without the risk of damaging any of the other systems.

But VPS is not meant for everyone. If all you need to do is run a blog, share some photos, or host a forum, then a VPS is probably above and beyond what you need. Below we’ll discuss the specific instances in which a VPS becomes necessary.

The most common use for a VPS system is for the webmaster who runs many sites. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could run them all using the same machine? Since a VPS gives one access to a file system and allows the advanced webmaster to upload and run their own programs to constantly run, things like performing repetitive tasks across multiple sites can be done with ease. Jobs that used to take hours, such as starting 10 blogs and having to upload, install, and configure WordPress (not to mention all those add-ons) becomes as simple as copying and pasting. SQL databases can be managed in a similar way as well. Not to mention you aren’t only limited to using one type of database, but any kind you want. Heck, you could design your own database system and use that too.

A VPS is in fact absolutely necessary for anyone who wants to develop their own server-side scripting languages and database management systems. Since you have full access to change, modify, or add on to the software that your server uses, you could upload your own programs to let the server understand these languages. There’s always new useful scripting languages being developed on the open-source sites, but to be able to run any of them a server must be used and configured properly from the system‘s end. Having a VPS is very handy when you don’t want your websites to be limited by the functions PHP can perform.

Finally, VPS can be useful where downtime is absolutely unacceptable. For servers that need to complete repetitive processes every time on time, a VPS can be more reliable than a shared system. VPS servers don’t go down for regular maintenance by the hosting company, nor do they go down due to some other webmaster causing an error in the server. The time in which the computer’s processor is used to perform takes is fairly divided between all VPS programs. This way, no one webmaster can try and eat up all of the machine’s resources and slow everyone else down.

It’s no secret that different web hosts have different qualities. It’s even more true when talking about VPS hosting. Things like the availability of customer support and having a host charging the lowest prices around are great and all, but it goes into way more depth than any inexperienced customer would even guess. Say, for instance, you need just a little more bandwidth. Are you going to have to upgrade to a whole new hosting plan and pay for 15 other services you have no use for? What about server location. If both you and your visitors are located in the United States, then why should you have to deal with transferring data halfway around the world to Europe, or Asia? Maybe you know what your looking for on the hardware end of things, but did you ever take a moment to think what kind of software the server has? That is, of course, the software you’ll have learn and use every day you log onto your server.

One of the key features a good VPS hosting provider has is the ability to customize your resources. There are actually providers out there that let you pick and choose exactly the resources that you need in order to maintain your website. What’s good about this is that you’re billed for only the features you use, and not the ones that are worthless to you. Why should you need to upgrade your available disk space when all you needed was a little more RAM? The VPS providers that are willing to listen to what you need are the ones you’re going to want to deal with.

If you’re looking at VPS hosting, then chances are you probably need a pretty fast server. But what happens to all that speed when your hosting is halfway across the earth? You’re going to have to wait for 10 times the amount of computers to respond and route the signal to where you and your website visitors are. Just because a little island off the coast of India can provide the same hosting features and speed as an American host for half the price doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to benefit you. Geographical location is directly related to the time it takes for your site to load, and that’s a very important thing to remember when dealing with the large and complicated applications that call for VPS servers.

Finally, there’s software. All VPS servers aren’t created equally in terms of the availability and functionality of good software. Your not just dealing with a cPanel anymore. That’s all in the past as soon as you step into the world of VPS servers. Chances are, you’re going to be dealing with more than one type of control panel. It’s extremely important to make sure all of these panels can be set up in a way that they all run smoothly together. When you’ve got VPS hosting, you suddenly become in charge of all that. Your control panels can only run as good as you can set them up to be, and if you’re unable to do that then you should start looking for another host.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) is not a toy like shared hosting. People think that a dedicated server is something too difficult to manage while a shared hosting is just a toy that is very easy to handle. VPS however, is something in the middle. Most of the websites on the web can be well accommodated in a beginner VPS plan if it is well tweaked and optimized. A beginner VPS plan is quite powerful, but it is a little bit more expensive than a shared hosting.
From my few years of experience of using VPS servers, I have put together some tips that might come handy when you are buying your first VPS hosting.
1. Never buy VPS with only a low 192MB RAM. The main system can take up to 150MB of it, and there won’t be enough memory left to be used by your own applications and software like WHM and cPanel. At the very least get 256MB of RAM, however this can still not be enough, so you better calculate exactly how much RAM you will need to ensure better performance.
2. If you are not a security expert or an experienced server administrator, it is better for you to get a managed VPS hosting rather than an unmanaged VPS. If you are not an experienced server administrator but you are using an unmanaged VPS for your sites, there are a lot of tutorials and guides that can help you to improve the security of your server, but it is still better for you to leave it to the experts.
3. VPS is actually cheaper than shared hosting (unit-wise), but the performance of VPS is still far from the performance of dedicated servers. When a physical server is running several VPS on it, and each of them are consuming around 100MB of RAM, plus the parent system itself is using a portion of the memory to operate, there will be less resources available for your sites, compared to dedicated servers.
4. One of the good things about VPS is that it is customizable like dedicated hosting. The VPS is running its own distribution so that you can do anything you want with the root access.
